Smartmark onboarded as official supplier of E1
Smartmark, an industry leader in state-of-the-art regatta buoys, has been selected as an official supplier of the UIM E1 World Championship. Founded in Hamburg in 2020, Smartmark will be suppling its innovative, GPS-controlled regatta buoys across the seven-race debut season of the Championship. The technically advanced Smartmark marks regatta courses digitally and sustainably at the push of a button to make the process more efficient, faster and better.
The partnership between the E1 Series and Smartmark reflects the innovative spirit of this unique racing series. The oceans and seas are the lifeblood of our planet, indispensable for climate protection and increasingly crucial as a source of food and energy in the future. The desired position is entered via a web-based application and the buoy moves to its place independently. Two electric motors keep it autonomously in position for 24 hours, regardless of water depth or ground conditions using unique sensors. As the buoys don’t require an anchor, they also have an improved impact on the environment.
The E1 Series is setting a milestone to raise awareness of this challenge while demonstrating that vision and innovation are crucial keys to a sustainable future. E1 is the world’s first and only all-electric raceboat championship sanctioned by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), the international governing body for powerboating activities. The UIM E1 World Championship presented by PIF was established to create a new, exciting and competitive on-water racing Championship using electric technologies to focus efforts on innovations that help protect and restore our urban waters and coastal areas.
The Championship sees teams featuring both a male and female pilot.
